Yao Zhang obtained his Ph.D. in ecology and evolutionary biology from the University of Oklahoma in 2017. His Ph.D. studies focused on the simulation of terrestrial gross primary production using light use efficiency models and the solar-induced chlorophyll fluorescence. He joined Dr. Gentine’s Lab in Dec. 2017. His current research uses machine learning to estimate ecosystem carbon and water fluxes, and investigates the coupling between them under different soil moisture conditions.
